Music education plays an important role at Coorara, as we strive to nurture children's enjoyment and understanding of music. Our music program consists of weekly music lessons taught by a specialist teacher, junior primary singing lessons and senior and junior choir. Through weekly lessons students get the opportunity to learn to play a range of untuned and tuned musical instructions. Year 5 to 7 students get the opportunity to learn the ukelele and the keyboard while students in year 3-4 learn the recorder. All students are given the opportunity to perform with their class during the year at school assemblies.
The Junior choir provides students from years 2 to 4 with the opportunity to experience choral singing in a fun environment. Students are given opportunities to perform at school assemblies, concerts and community events.
The Senior Choir provides students from years 5 to 7 to further develop their singing skills. Each year the senior choir participates in the Public Schools Festival of Music. Through this involvement students are given the opportunity to perform at the Festival Theatre. Other performance opportunities include school assemblies and concerts.
